Mickelson's Game Collapses at
The US Open
If you had to choose one aspect
of Phil's game which caused
his complete and utter collapse
at this years US Open then it
would have to be his driving.
He was two strokes clear with
three holes to play at Winged
Foot and his wayward driving
cost him dearly. He found only
two fairways out of 14 on the
day and pushed his tee shot
at the last on to the roof of
a hospitality tent. He finished
the hole with a double-bogey
six which put him one stroke
short of forcing a play-off
for his first US Open title
and in a three-way tie for second
place behind the Open winner,
Australian Geoff Ogilvy. |

Phil Mickelson Poised For Third
Straight Major
After leader after leader collapsed
under the pressure, Mickelson
looks like he's in a good position
to take his third straight major,
now looking to compete with
the likes of Tiger Woods in
the record books. All that stands
in his way is one more round.
In his own words "I've
got one round to go, 18 holes,
and there's a lot of guys right
there, a lot of good players
that are making pars and fighting,
just like I'm trying to do,"
Mickelson said. "I'm not
thinking about those past tournaments.
I'm trying to just play one
more good round." Watch
